General storage principles
- Refrigerate — most somatropin products are kept in the refrigerator, never the freezer
- Keep pens and cartridges in their original packaging to protect from light
- Check the expiration date and the in-use time limit after first use
- Store securely and out of reach of others
Travel
For trips, an insulated bag with a cool pack is commonly used. Do not place the pen or cartridge directly against ice, and never leave it in a hot car. Ask the provider's office or pharmacist for guidance specific to your product before you travel.
Why sealed packaging matters
Brand-name pens and cartridges arrive sealed from the manufacturer with lot tracking. If packaging appears opened, damaged or tampered with, do not use the product — contact the dispensing source.
This is one reason to avoid gray-market sellers: storage history and authenticity cannot be verified.
