Growth hormone and bone health: what is known

Bone health is complex; somatropin is not a general osteoporosis-prevention product.

A complex relationship

Growth hormone is one of several hormones involved in growth and bone metabolism. Bone density can be influenced by age, nutrition, other hormones, medicines and medical conditions. An isolated concern about bone health does not establish a need for somatropin.

Talk to your provider

Do not use growth hormone to prevent or treat osteoporosis unless a qualified clinician has evaluated your situation and prescribed it for an appropriate indication. Your provider can discuss bone-health testing and established care options.
